i-draw-music: This is the cover of the first issue of a mini-comic I draw and write called Sainted. It’s about a bunch of saints living in the same house together in the after life. I’ve drawn/written 3 issues in all and am currently working on the 4th-it should’ve been done by now, but holidays, job changes, etc. have held it up. I’m also taking an inking class right now, so I may wait until I get through the class to finish #4 to see if my inking skills significantly improve enough that I can make a really classy looking book this time around. Last night I was out with a friend who told me about another friend of ours who recently made a low budget film out in LA with Mink Stole, veteran Dreamlander of John Waters movies. And I told her about how, a year and half back, I went to a signing John Waters was doing for his book Role Models. After he signed my book, I offered him a copy of Sainted #1 which he politely he accepted. I always forget that I did that. But when I start to feel embarrassed that I did, I just keep in mind that a mini-comic about 8 Catholic saints all having to share the same bathroom can’t possibly be the weirdest thing that anyone’s ever given John Waters. Right? Also, Role Models is a really great book. I highly recommend it. If you can ever get your hands on Sainted, do it. It is an excellent, funny and yes, weird mini-comic.
