Fight back! Make art!
Thats what art photographer Iannis Delatolas did after being horribly gay bashed by a thug at a bar {in Brooklyn}

Yes so much and forever and for those who think this kind of thing still isn’t a problem in New York.

Here’s a conversation I just had with Ron Dante in regards to this April 22nd show @ BB King’s in NYC. The linuep? Ron Dante (The Archies), 1910 Fruitgum Company & my favorite songwriter Joey Levine!
Guess sometimes dreams can come true.

Love Goes to Buildings on Fire — Five Years in New York That Changed Music Forever

 If you are now making and playing the kind of music that is expanding the range of the possible in ways that might one day be consequential, you are probably in Bushwick. And you are probably embroidering on an idea or an approach developed to the west, across the East River, 35 years ago.

This Sunday, Decmber 11th, 8PM-midnight, my partner Dj Ajobo (Allison Jonelle Boron, copy editor for Elmore Magazine) and myself are back DJing at 116 Macdougal (116 MacDougal St, NYC) for our monthly Where the Action Is sixties-themed dance party.

Today is Transgender Day of Remembrance

From DangerousMinds.net:

So take a moment to remember all the gender variant people who have been killed in the past 12 months just for being who they are: Idania Roberta Sevilla Raudales, Luisa Alvarado Hernandez, Lady Oscar Martinez Salgado, Reana ‘Cheo’ Bustamente, Genesis Briget Makaligton, Krissy Bates (pictured), Alice Ferg, Tyra Trent, Priscila Brandao, Marcal Camero Tye, Shakra Harahap, Miss Nate Nate Daivs, Lashal Mclean, Didem, Camila Guzman, Gaby, Gaurav Gopalan, Ramazan Cetin, Shelley Hillard, Jesica Rollon, Astrid Carolina Lopez Cruz, Chassity Nathan Vickers, and the countless more un-named or unidentified murder victims (from theTransgender DOR website).

In their memory, and for all the gender variant people putting up with close-minded shit every single day, here’s Jayne County performing “Are You Man Enough To Be A Woman?” from the Japanese documentary New York Underground

This is the best place to get homemade tzatziki in Astoria.  They have other great foods too.  Across the street is another great Euro import food store.  This is where I get my fig jam and sesame toast crusts.  Most of the dairy, cheese, and meat products are made right here.  The prices and unique selections are fantastic and yet some New Yorkers want a big Walmort?
Along Ditmars Blvd, about a dozen local businesses closed this last year (including vacant spaces on both sides of the Greek Village Market) and it seems another business keeps closing each month.  The huge green market next to Kyclades just closed and they had renovated!
Times are bad and New Yorkers need to flip off the corporate billionaires who could care less.   Shop Only Local People!
